I’m beyond excited to share the details of Bailey’s room makeover with you all! This project has been such a labor of love, and I’m thrilled with how everything came together—from the practical updates to the fun design elements that make the space truly her own. But what makes this makeover extra special is the parent-child chore contract we incorporated, adding an element of responsibility and collaboration that has transformed more than just the room!
The Vision
Bailey’s space needed to evolve to match her growing independence and creativity, while also addressing her everyday needs. The goal was to design a functional, stylish apartment that could handle multiple uses and activities without feeling cluttered.
1. The Entryway Refresh: We started outside her bedroom with a sleek new doorbell, custom mailbox, and beautiful sconces that set the tone for her personal space. This upgrade not only enhanced the aesthetic but made the space feel more welcoming and polished.
2. The Bedroom Upgrade: Inside her room, we gave Bailey’s desk area a major upgrade. Her workspace is now bright, organized, and functional—perfect for studying, crafting, or anything else she sets her mind to. With a comfortable chair, ample storage, and a personalized touch, it’s a space where she can thrive.
3. The Bathroom Remodel: Next, we tackled her bathroom, giving it a complete remodel. From modern fixtures to stylish tile, we designed a bathroom that feels fresh and contemporary, while making sure it functions perfectly for her daily routine.
4. The Hangout Spot: Finally, Bailey’s hangout spot! This space now serves as her “living room, dining room, and nail salon” all rolled into one. It’s the ultimate multifunctional area where she can relax, enjoy a meal, or even give herself a manicure. This zone truly reflects her personality and lifestyle, making it a space she’ll love for years to come.
A Room Makeover with a Purpose: The Parent-Child Chore Contract
One unique element of this project was the inclusion of a parent-child chore contract. This wasn’t just about giving Bailey a beautiful space—it was about fostering a sense of responsibility and partnership in maintaining it. The contract outlines specific chores Bailey is responsible for, ensuring she takes an active role in keeping her new space in great condition.
We wanted this makeover to feel like a true step towards independence, and the contract is a great way for her to balance ownership of her new space with her daily routine. It’s been a wonderful way for us to work together as a family, teaching valuable life skills while also celebrating this exciting new chapter in her life.
